About this course

The QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a nationally recognised qualification.

The SSSC strongly advises that all early years providers in Scotland, such as nurseries and playgroups, have staff trained in paediatric first aid. It's considered best practice and is essential for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children. Providers should always think about the number of children, staff, and the layout of the building to make sure a qualified first aider is available to respond quickly in an emergency.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will learn the roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider. You will also have the skills to provide safe and effective treatment when dealing with a range of paediatric first aid situations.

Who this course is for

This course is ideal for:

  • those who work in an early years setting and want to be included in the staff to child ratios to meet EYFS requirements
  • registered childminders and assistants who are required to hold a current and full paediatric first aid certificate to meet EYFS requirements
  • parents, grandparents or anyone who has a non-professional involvement with infants and children and wants to learn key paediatric first aid skills
