1. Policy Statement

Alliance First Aid Training Academy Ltd is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all employees, learners, visitors, and stakeholders. We recognise our legal and moral responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and other relevant legislation to provide a workplace and learning environment that minimises risks to health, safety, and welfare.

2. Responsibilities

  • Directors and Management: Responsible for implementing this policy, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Employees and Trainers: Must take reasonable care of their own and others’ health and safety, comply with procedures, and report hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Learners and Visitors: Expected to follow safety guidance, use equipment responsibly, and report any concerns.

3. Risk Assessment

We will conduct regular risk assessments to identify hazards and implement control measures. These will be reviewed periodically or after significant changes to ensure effectiveness.

4. Safe Premises and Equipment

  • All training venues will be maintained in a safe condition with appropriate fire safety measures.
  • Equipment used in training (e.g., first aid mannequins) will be regularly checked and maintained.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided where necessary.

5. Emergency Procedures

  • Clear emergency evacuation procedures will be in place and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • First aid arrangements will be maintained, including accessible first aid kits and trained personnel.
  • Incidents and accidents will be recorded and investigated to prevent recurrence.

6. Fire Safety

  • Fire risk assessments will be conducted at all training locations.
  • Fire exits will be clearly marked and unobstructed.
  • Regular fire drills will be conducted where required.

7. Manual Handling

Employees and learners will be given guidance on correct manual handling techniques to reduce the risk of injury.

8. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

Any hazardous substances used during training (e.g., cleaning agents) will be assessed for risk, and appropriate controls will be in place.

9. Reporting and Investigation of Incidents

  • All accidents, incidents, and near-misses must be reported immediately.
  • Investigations will be carried out to identify causes and implement corrective measures.
  • Reports will be kept in compliance with RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).

10. Monitoring and Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or following significant changes to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
