Alliance First Aid Training Academy Ltd ("Alliance Academy") is committed to ensuring fair access to training and assessment for all learners. This policy outlines the procedures for requesting and implementing reasonable adjustments and special considerations in compliance with Qualsafe Awards and relevant UK legislation.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all learners enrolled in courses provided by Alliance Academy and covers adjustments for learners with disabilities, medical conditions, or other special requirements.
3. Definitions
- Reasonable Adjustments – Measures taken before an assessment to reduce the impact of a learner’s disability or condition without compromising assessment validity. Examples include extra time, assistive technology, or adapted learning materials.
- Special Considerations – Actions taken after an assessment to accommodate learners who experience temporary illness, injury, or other extenuating circumstances.
4. Requesting Reasonable Adjustments
- Learners must submit a request in writing at least 10 working days before their assessment.
- Requests must include supporting evidence (e.g., medical reports, educational assessments).
- The Academy will assess requests and implement adjustments where feasible.
5. Requesting Special Considerations
- Learners who experience unforeseen circumstances (e.g., illness, bereavement) must notify the Academy within 5 working days of their assessment.
- Supporting evidence may be required.
- The Academy will liaise with Qualsafe Awards where necessary.
6. Review and Appeals
If a learner disagrees with a decision regarding adjustments or special considerations, they may appeal through the Appeals, Enquiries, and Complaints Policy.
7. Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
