Our Whistleblowing Policy offers a secure and confidential way to report any misconduct, protecting those who raise concerns in good faith.

1. Purpose

Alliance First Aid Training Academy Ltd ("the Academy") is committed to the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct. This policy provides a framework for employees, contractors, learners, and other stakeholders to report concerns about wrongdoing within the organisation without fear of retaliation.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, learners, and any individuals associated with the Academy who wish to raise concerns about misconduct, malpractice, or unethical behaviour.

3. What is Whistleblowing?

Whistleblowing refers to the disclosure of information concerning wrongdoing, including but not limited to:

  • Criminal offences (e.g., fraud, bribery, corruption)
  • Failure to comply with legal obligations
  • Health and safety risks
  • Environmental damage
  • Academic misconduct
  • Cover-ups of any of the above

4. Protection for Whistleblowers

Individuals raising concerns in good faith will be protected from retaliation, victimisation, or any detrimental treatment. This policy aligns with the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA), ensuring legal protection for whistleblowers.

5. Reporting Procedures

5.1 Internal Reporting

Concerns should be raised as soon as possible with:

  • Line Manager or Supervisor (if appropriate)
  • Whistleblowing Officer (designated contact within the Academy)
  • Senior Management (if concerns involve immediate supervisors)

Reports can be submitted in writing, providing as much detail as possible, including any supporting evidence.

5.2 External Reporting

If internal reporting is ineffective or inappropriate, concerns may be raised with:

  • Qualsafe Awards (if related to training and assessment integrity)
  • Regulatory Authorities (e.g., Health and Safety Executive, Information Commissioner’s Office)
  • Law Enforcement Agencies (if criminal activity is suspected)

6. Confidentiality

All disclosures will be treated confidentially, and the identity of the whistleblower will be protected, where legally possible. However, in cases requiring formal investigation, confidentiality may be limited.

7. Handling of Reports

  • Reports will be acknowledged within five working days.
  • A designated officer will assess the concern and determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Investigations will be conducted promptly, ensuring fairness and impartiality.
  • Outcomes will be communicated to the whistleblower where possible, within legal and confidentiality constraints.

8. Malicious Allegations

Whistleblowers are expected to act in good faith. Any knowingly false or malicious allegations may result in disciplinary action.

9. Review and Monitoring

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
